Day 1

Today I drilled out the rivets in several side panels and removed the longest flat panel first. It was over 14 feet, which surprised me, though I'm not sure why. I started with the wrong size drill bit - grabbed the #20 bit rather than the #29.  I started behind the sink though, so nothing will show.  The numbered drill bits are supposed to be precisely the correct size for the rivets to go back in later. The #20 is for exterior rivets and the #29 is for interior. The numbered bits are between the English and metric sizes/systems.

I had an enthusiastic helper for the morning. She picked up loose nails and removed as many screws as she could find. We were a bit slower together, but the means is as important as the ends, I think.  Plus, I really enjoyed the company.

I also had to remove the flashing around the windows and the AC.  I was able to remove the interior and exterior covers of the huge AC on the roof, but I have no idea how I'm going to lift that beast off the trailer without damaging something.

The video below shows today's progress. It seems depressingly little for six hours worth of work. But I didn't include photos from the exterior AC unit, I guess.
